In a Montessori environment, Cultural Studies encompasses a wide range of subjects, including Geography, History, Social Studies, and Foreign Language. This area helps children develop an awareness of the world around them, while nurturing respect for diverse cultures and environments.
How Children Learn Geography
Science activities focus on helping children:
- Exploring the World: Children use Montessori-designed maps, puzzles, and globes to locate continents, countries, and states.
- Land & Water Forms: Clay models and hands-on activities help children understand islands, peninsulas, rivers, mountains, and other geographical features.
- Customs, Climate, and Languages: Through stories, discussions, and materials, children learn about people, traditions, and environments around the world.
